Progress Made in Restoring Outages
As of 8:17 a.m. (Eastern Time) VEC crews have restored power to about 1,100 customers who lost power during severe weather Monday night and Tuesday morning. At the peak of the outages about 4,400 VEC customer were without power.
High winds, lightning, and heavy rains caused damage across VEC’s 17-county service area. The hardest hit areas include southern Bradley County where about 1,800 customers are without power. The Piney Grove area of southeast McMinn County was also hit hard, but crews have managed to restore power to all except about 44 customers.
Other areas that are reporting heavy damage and extensive outages include Roane County – 180; Polk County – 177; and Hamilton County – 107.
Crews will work non-stop until power has been restored to all customers. VEC apologizes for any inconveniences the outages may cause.
