Human Resources Assistant

Volunteer Energy Cooperative is accepting resumes in the position of Human Resources Assistant at our Corporate office in Decatur, TN. The primary mission of the Human Resources Assistant is to provide administrative and professional support for the day to day operations of the Human Resources Department. This position supports and carries out responsibilities of the HR department, including but not limited to, recordkeeping, payroll processing, benefit administration, employee relations, recruitment and onboarding, Affirmative Action, and employment law compliance in accordance with established policies and procedures.

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Human Resource position (payroll processing, benefit administration, onboarding and recruiting, etc.) and an Associate’s Degree in related field is desirable.
Working knowledge in iVUE Financials or an HRIS and/or time and attendance system is a plus. Must have the ability to work independently and maintain a professional manner at all times. This individual must be capable of responding to multiple assignments and phone calls. The ability to maintain confidentiality of various types (HIPPA, personnel issues, etc.) of information on a continuing basis is extremely important. This individual must be accurate when working with numbers to verify payroll and to work with spreadsheets and databases. Candidate must possess strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Ability to operate calculators, copiers, scanners and other office equipment is required. Effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail is also required. Must be able to meet deadlines.
