Winter Weather Safety Tips

Severe winter weather is headed our way, and we want to help you stay safe and prepared. ❄️
As you get ready, here are a few important safety tips to keep in mind:
Create an Emergency Kit: Include flashlights, extra batteries, blankets, bottled water, non‑perishable food, a first‑aid kit, and chargers for essential devices.
Insulate Doors and Windows: Use towels, weather stripping, or plastic covering to help keep warm air in and cold air out during extreme cold or outages.
Practice Fire and Heater Safety: Keep space heaters at least three feet from anything flammable, never leave them unattended, and avoid using stoves or ovens for heat.
Replace Old Batteries: Make sure flashlights, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, and radios all have fresh batteries before the storm arrives.
Keep Water Running at a Slow Drip: This helps prevent frozen pipes. Opening cabinet doors under sinks can also help warm air circulate.
Charge Essential Devices: Fully charge phones, power banks, and any medical equipment you rely on.
Prepare for Medical Needs: If you use powered medical devices, such as oxygen, make sure you have a backup plan and enough supplies to last through potential outages.
