Powering Hope Through Cooperative Values
Powering Hope Through Cooperative Values
In East Tennessee, service is not just something we do, it is who we are. At Volunteer Energy Cooperative (VEC), the principle of “Concern for Community” guides every decision, every partnership, and every act of generosity. This October, that commitment came to life in powerful ways as VEC employees joined forces to support their neighbors through hands-on service and heartfelt giving through Co-op Day of Service.

More than 90 VEC employees from six offices participated in this year’s initiative, collaborating with over six nonprofit organizations to make a meaningful impact across the region. From donating food items to local drives and providing school supplies to area schools, VEC’s efforts reflected a deep-rooted dedication to the communities they serve.
“Our co-op has always prioritized community but seeing that commitment in action—and playing a role in it—makes the impact feel even more meaningful,” said Jamie Creekmore, VEC’s Vice President of Cooperative and Member Services.
These efforts were not about lending a hand, they were about living our values. The seventh cooperative principle reminds us that our responsibility extends beyond electricity; it is about empowering lives, strengthening neighborhoods, and showing up when it matters most.

As we look ahead, VEC remains committed to building a future where compassion and collaboration are the cornerstones of progress. Because when we lead with service, we do not just power homes—we power hope.
