Rate Increase Update

Attention VEC Members: Beginning April 1, 2026, the VEC Customer Charge and the VEC Energy Rate on all residential and commercial rate classes will be increasing.

The VEC Customer Charge covers costs associated with the delivery of power, including routine maintenance of power lines, right-of-way clearing, equipment such as transformers and electric meters, and the costs associated with billing member accounts each month. The VEC Energy Rate (kWh charge) is based upon the member’s kilowatt-hour usage. The energy rate covers the cost of the electricity you use and the expenses associated with supplying that power safely and reliably to your home or business.

Just like other businesses across the US, we have faced significant increases in operating costs, materials, and general operational expenses. However, we will not compromise on reliability, and we must continue system maintenance, right-of-way clearing, and other efforts to maintain optimal functionality of the VEC electric system.

Our customer charge is low compared to other power companies and remains below the average among TVA distributors. We are committed to keeping our rates as low as possible while ensuring the high standard of service you rely on.

These decisions to adjust rates are taken very seriously, and we understand the real impact they can have on families and businesses in our communities. Being transparent with you is important to us, and we want you to feel comfortable reaching out if you have questions. We value the trust you place in us and strive to uphold it in everything we do.

While rates may change from time to time, our commitment to you does not. The VEC team remains focused on providing safe, reliable, and affordable energy to every member we serve. That dedication guides our work, and it’s something you can continue to count on.
